"HOW CAN I GET PARTS.CAT.COM TO SAVE MY LOGIN AND PASSWORD?"

In Internet Explorer, you can follow these steps:

Tools > Internet Options > Content Tab > AutoComplete, Settings > Ensure the boxes are checked next to "User names and passwords on form" and "Ask me before saving passwords"

In Chrome, you can follow these steps:

Settings > Show Advanced Settings > Under "Passwords and Forms" ensure the boxes are checked next to "Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click" and "Offer to save your web passwords" > Click on Manage Passwords, and if Parts.Cat.Com is in the "Never saved" list, delete it.

SHARED FREQUENT ORDER LISTS

Shared Frequent Order Lists are now loaded and available. For customers that access multiple dealers and/or multiple Dealer Customer Numbers, shared Frequent Order Lists are Dealer Customer Number specific.

HOT/TRENDING PRODUCTS ON HOMEPAGE

A new carousel on the homepage has been added that shows the best-selling products on your Dealer’s Parts.Cat.com website. There are as many as 24 products listed, and the list, which is refreshed hourly, is based on the number of sales by line item during the past 30 days.

AUTOFORMATTING PART NUMBERS IN QUICK ORDER

Now depending on your Dealer, when you enter a part number in Quick Order that is not formatted with hyphens and leading zeroes, and click enter, the value will be returned as the auto-formatted part number with Source of Supply or pricing information as necessary.

UPDATES TO FREQUENT ORDER LIST FUNCTIONALITY

Several improvements have been made to Frequent Order Lists, including: Empty Frequent Order Lists cannot be added to cart, "shared" or "private" frequent order list options are both in the dropdown where applicable, and "Add List to Current Order" button appears for all customers.

UPDATES TO MOBILE CHECKOUT

Several updates have been made to the checkout process on mobile devices, reducing the number of screens in the process from 4 to 2, including: Order Summary page includes "Ordered By" field, images appear on the "Order Confirmation" page, back arrow available at the top of the screen, Discounted and core charges are displayed, and the Dropbox tab is displayed.

PROMPTS FOR HELP NOW OFFERED ON SEARCH RESULTS PAGE - ENGLISH ONLY

If you complete a site search that returns no results, some additional help is now provided. Recommendations to search using ‘Parts Manuals’ or serial number, and direction to the Resource Center are shown, and direct links to those tools are provided. If you enter not only a keyword, but also a serial number, an example of a serial number plate is shown to provide clarity.

ATTACHING A DOCUMENT TO AN ORDER

Attaching a document to your order is now even easier. Simply select "Upload Attachment" near the billing information on the ‘Order Summary’ page, select the document you wish to attach, and proceed placing your order. If you have attached a document to an order, then it is attached to the order confirmation emails sent to both you and your dealer, it is visible in the "Order Details" section in your account, and it has been added to the pages for submitting and approving orders. You can also now remove the attachment by clicking the "x" next to the file name.

DELIVERY OPTIONS TAB

The layout of the delivery options section of check out has been changed to make your selection as simple as possible. If your dealer has enabled this, you will see multiple tabs for different methods, based on what options your dealer offers. After you select the tab, or shipping option, you will be instructed to complete the information relevant to that option.

SIGNIFICANT ENHANCEMENTS TO THE 'QUICK ORDER/SHOPPING CART' EXPERIENCE ARE NOW LIVE (DESKTOP SITE ONLY)

You can now:

  • View 'Quick Order' and Shopping Cart on the same page. When you click on 'Quick Order' in the top navigation you will now be redirected to the bottom of the Shopping Cart page, where you can load or manually enter lists of parts. When you click on the shopping cart icon you go to your shopping cart, as before.
  • See your progress through the check-out process with a progress bar at the top of the page.
  • Upload or "import" .CSV files and Frequent Order Lists.
  • Print or save your shopping cart.
  • Switch your store location and update price and availability.
  • Select whether you see product images while in your shopping cart.
  • Record a serial number and a note for each line item in your shopping cart.
  • Remove a line item from your cart.
  • Empty your shopping cart entirely by clicking on "Empty Cart."
  • Navigate away from your Shopping Cart at any time and all items will be saved until you add them to the Shopping Cart and place your order. So, if you add parts to the 'Quick Order' portion of the page and leave the page or continue your order without adding them to your cart, the items will remain in the "Add Products to Cart" fields.

You can now reorder an order you have placed when you are on an order's detail page.

CHANGES TO REGISTRATION

While registering, user name and password requirements are called out, and if the requirements are not met, you will be instructed that "Username does not meet minimum requirements." Where you are directed to "Create a unique user name that is between 6 - 25 characters." You will see that a username can contain numbers' letters or the following special characters: @ _ . " and you will be notified if the user name you enter has already been taken. Once you have entered a username that meets the minimum requirements that has not already been taken, you will see a green checkmark indicating success.

Similarly, when creating a password, the minimum requirements are clearly displayed. Passwords must be at least 8 characters, and have at least one of each of these: number, upper-case letter, lower case letter, and a special character. Acceptable special characters are *, &, :, =, -, !, ., %, ?, _,|, @, #, or $ If requirements are not met, you will see a warning that "Password does not meet requirements." When changing your password, you may not use a password that has been used the past 13 times. Once you have entered a password that meets the minimum requirements and reentered it with a successful match, you will see a green checkmark indicating success.

Registration has been simplified. The following fields have been removed:

  • Middle name
  • Mobile phone number
  • Primary job
  • Has your company purchased previously from DEALER NAME?

However, another field has been added but is not required. You will now see "Enter Dealer Account Number if known" when registering.

SPECIAL CHARACTERS IN QUICK ORDER

When you enter specific special characters that might be in a dealer's part number via the Quick Order functionality, correct part numbers are added to your shopping cart. This is the list of special characters accepted by Quick Order: !#$()*+,-./:;=?{}_`

AUTOMATICALLY RETURN TO YOUR LOCATION IN SIS

When you navigate to SIS from parts.cat.com, return to Parts.Cat.Com and then return to SIS, you will be directed to the last page you were on in SIS.

SERIAL NUMBER CARRIES OVER FROM SIS TO PARTS.CAT.COM ORDER

When you select and order parts using SIS, the serial number in the Order Summary automatically matches the one you selected in SIS, regardless of what you have selected on the Parts.Cat.Com Associated Dealer page. This means that your order summary information automatically contains the serial number you entered in SIS. Also, if you go back into SIS, the serial number you entered the first time persists.

"ORDERED BY" FIELD

By default, this field will be populated with the name of the user currently logged in. The user has the option to change this field if desired.

UPDATES TO ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAIL

Serial number and "Ordered by"/"Requested by" are now included in Order Confirmation emails, to indicate for which equipment the purchase was meant and by whom the order was placed. Also:

  • You can click "View Online" to go directly to the Order History details
  • All relevant order information is included at the very top of the email
  • Part details are simplified and easier to read
  • Email is now more user-friendly in Gmail, Lotus Notes and Outlook clients

When you search for your dealer using your location, you will now see all stores within a 1,000 mile radius, instead of seeing only 50 results.

UNIT OF MEASURE SHOWN IN CATALOG FACETS

In addition to the attribute names visible on the left-hand side of the page while navigating the catalog of parts, you will now see the unit of measure associated with that attribute, so you can more effectively narrow your search and find the parts you need quicker.

MESSAGE TO INDICATE CUSTOMER IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH A UNIQUE CUSTOMER ID (UCID)

If you sign into Parts.Cat.Com and you do not have a Unique Customer ID (UCID), then you will see a window indicating "You are currently logged in with {cwsID} and are not associated to any dealers. Please click here to {register button}, or click here to {logout button}, and sign in with a different account." This will ensure that your orders are processed correctly and that you see the correct pricing information.

ZIP/POSTAL CODE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR ALL COUNTRIES

Similar to PartStore behavior, if a country does not need a zip/postal code, then it is not required for you to register or place an order.

For all customers worldwide, an address validation service now returns matching addresses based on the information you provide. You can select the correct address and continue with your order or registration.

UPDATES TO CUSTOMER AUTHORITY MANAGEMENT

You can now view deleted orders, and you are now able to filter your view of orders using the notification limit preferences you have set. By default, when you click on "Order Approvals," the orders you see will be those within the limits you have set. By clicking "Search Options" you are able to refine the results based on monetary amount or other criteria.

UPDATES TO QUICK ORDER

Now when you enter parts into Quick Order, selecting the source of supply and replacement or alternate parts is easier. The source of supply (SOS) for all parts is visible and selectable from one screen, as are replacement and alternate parts.

PRINTER-FRIENDLY ORDER DETAILS AND EXPORTS

You can now print your order details from the Order Summary Page, Order Confirmation Page, Shopping Cart Page and Order History Page by clicking the "Print" button. The printer-friendly view shows only the key information, order number, shipping and billing information, parts included in the order, and a summary of the costs, in a simple, compact format. Additionally, you can export the contents of an order from the Order Summary Page and the Order Confirmation Page. After clicking "Export," you can select from three formats - XLS, CSV and PDF - and download the file. A .CSV file can be used to load into "Quick Order" for future orders.

FREQUENT ORDER LIST UPDATES

The Frequent Order List functionality included in the April release is now expanded to include shared lists, in addition to private lists. You can create, view and edit shared lists. You can also now create lists using the items in your shopping cart. On the shopping cart page, you can click "Create Frequent Order List," which will add the items in your cart to a new list.

INTEGRATION OF ALTERNATE PARTS (REMAN/CLASSIC/ALTERNATE) INTO 'QUICK ORDER'

The Quick Order page now displays alternate, replacement, Reman or Classic parts associated with a part added on the 'Quick Order' page. If there is an alternate or replacement part option, you will be directed to an exception screen where parts can be added and removed. This functionality is for the desktop site only, and this will only be displayed for you if you have associated yourself with a dealer. On the mobile site, these exception screens will not appear in June, though that functionality is scheduled for a later release.

FREQUENT ORDER LIST UPDATES

The Frequent Order List functionality has expanded to include shared lists, in addition to private lists. You can create, view and edit shared lists. Adding parts to lists is also now more user-friendly. When adding parts to a list, there are always two more rows than the current row you are using. For instance, when you tab to or click on "Qty" on the second row, an additional row to line 4 automatically appears.

'QUICK ORDER' UPDATES

While on the 'Quick Order' page, if you have added parts to the fields on the page and attempt to leave 'Quick Order,' you will now receive a warning, "You are about to navigate away from a page with a form that has not been submitted. By doing so, you will lose any information you've entered. Would you like to proceed?" with options to "Cancel" or "Proceed." If "Cancel" is selected, you will stay on the 'Quick Order' page and can "Add All Items to Cart" and all items will be added to the shopping cart. If "Proceed" is selected, you will lose the parts entered into the 'Quick Order' page; those parts are not added to the cart and do not remain in the form.

ORDER HISTORY ADDED UNDER 'MY ACCOUNT'

The new 'Order History' tab under 'My Account,' shows the history of orders placed in PartStore and on Parts.Cat.Com (online orders only). Order histories are shared among users within an organization as well, as long as the user is not an Instant Access customer. When viewing order details, you can see the parts included in the order and "Add All to Cart." The details shown include all of the information entered along with the order.

BROWSING HISTORY ON HOMEPAGE

A "Recently Viewed" carousel of parts is now shown on the homepage for all customers. From there, you can scroll through the carousel, or click "View All." Browsing history can also be accessed by logged in users from the 'My Account' page. After clicking 'View All,' a page is shown on which you can adjust the quantity of the parts and add to cart. The results on the page can be filtered by category or attributes associated with the recently viewed parts.

CUSTOMER AUTHORITY MANAGEMENT - PHASE 2

Additional functionality has been added to the Customer Authority Management capabilities included in the May release. Specifically, order approvers are now able to edit orders in their approval queue, after which they can save, delete, approve or reject them. If the new edited order total is higher than the approver's approval limit, it will automatically be placed in the queue of the next order approver. Also available are notifications to users. The email notifications contain links to the related order, and users can set notification preferences by monetary value amount. Note: Rejection notifications now contain the reason for the rejection.

CORE TRACKING

This feature allows you to search the order histories on your accounts and identify outstanding cores not yet returned to the dealership, for all dealers with this integration.
1. Navigate to 'My Account' and click the 'Core Tracking' link under 'Settings.'
2. Enter key criteria to narrow your search, including: Customer accounts, store locations, date ranges, part number, order number, equipment, serial number and PO number.
3. Your search results will be displayed as a list of sortable columns that can be exported as an .xls, .csv or .pdf.

CUSTOMER AUTHORITY MANAGEMENT - PHASE 1

This functionality allows the administrator to view and approve orders as well as set and change limitations on order totals for individual users within their organization. The administrator needs to approve any orders that exceed the set limits, allowing more control over purchases made by your organization.
1. Navigate to 'My Account.'
2. Select 'Organizations and Users,' all users assigned to your organization will be displayed.
3. Click the 'Actions' icon and select 'View Details' to access and edit user permissions. Once an order has been approved or denied by the administrator, the user is notified via email. Regardless of approval status, the order will appear on the user's order history page.

QUOTING

Want a customized quote from your dealer? If your dealer has this functionality enabled, you can now create a quote, which locks in the price of your order for a certain number of days set by your dealer.
1. To request a quote, click 'Create Quote,' in the 'Order Summary' page of your cart.
2. To view pending quotes, navigate to 'My Account.'
3. Click the 'Pending Quotes' link under 'Settings' and all available dealer quotes will be displayed.
4. Select 'Details' next to each quote to view individual parts and quantities.
5. From 'Order Summary,' you can choose to place the order, delete the quote or select cancel to leave the quote as is.

'PART LOOKUP' CHANGING TO 'PARTS MANUALS' AND NEW LOCATION FOR SIS

In the top navigation bar, you'll notice that we changed the 'Part Lookup' section to 'Parts Manuals.' From there you can drill down through major component systems to find groupings of parts specific to your equipment. Like a parts manual, you can view engineering drawings of many parts to ensure you are selecting the right part for your equipment. At a part level, you can check your dealer price and complete the checkout process. If you have access to SIS, you'll be able to navigate to it through this page. Click here for a quick tutorial on how to utilize 'Parts Manuals.'

FREQUENT ORDER LISTS

Frequent order lists provide a quick and convenient way for you to create, save, and re-use lists of parts that you plan to order repeatedly. This function can now be found on the 'My Account' page. New lists can be created by manual entry or by uploading a .csv file following the format of the sample file available on the site. If you were a previous PartStore customer, you will be able to find PartStore orders dating back to January of 2015. Order history for orders placed on Parts.Cat.Com date back to October 2015. NOTE: Currently all lists are private, meaning they can only be viewed by the user that created them. Sharing lists within a company is an enhancement planned for a future release.

SEARCH FOR PARTS WITH 'FIND BY EQUIPMENT'

It's easier than ever to search parts using the 'Find by Equipment' function, which allows you to enter a serial number and part keywords to get a listing of matches based on factory settings for your criteria.
1. From the homepage, enter the serial number of your equipment and a part keyword.
2. Click the 'Find Parts' button and you'll be directed to a search results page that shows only parts associated with the criteria you entered. Parts may be filtered either by serial number prefix and range (indicated by a 'Verified at Serial Range' note) or exact serial number (indicated by a 'Verified at Serial Number' note).
3. Scroll through the parts listing and click on the part you need. You'll be directed to the part detail page. Here, you can update the quantity you wish to purchase, check availability, or select 'Add to Cart' to place the item(s) in your shopping cart.

You can also access this feature by adding a serial number in the search field on category and product pages. Once you've filtered your search by serial number, the whole site is filtered so you know you're getting the right parts for your equipment

SHOPPING PREFERENCES

To make the login and checkout process faster, Parts.Cat.Com has created a Shopping Preferences page where you can customize your preferences. This can be found in the 'My Account' section under 'Settings' and 'Shopping Preferences'. Your customization options include:
Dealer Settings: Set your default Dealer Store location
Quick Login: Set the default equipment for your order based on all of the serial numbers associated with the selected customer number.
Quick Checkout: Select your default billing and shipping addresses, payment and shipping methods.
From the 'My Account' section you can also view Pending Quotes, Core Tracking and Frequent Order Lists, as well as reorder in a single step from your order history by clicking the 'Reorder' button next to any previous order.

CAT FINANCIAL COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT ADDED AS PAYMENT METHOD

The Cat Financial Commercial Account (CFCA) payment method has been added as an additional payment method during the checkout process. When you select CFCA as a payment method you will be required to enter a valid account number and the name on the account. Below are two conditions that must exist for this payment method to appear in your payment drop down list:
1. Your selected Dealer has enabled CFCA
2. You have been enabled to place credit card orders by your dealer (i.e. have credit card as a payment method)

REGISTERING & SIGNING IN

Create your account by following these simple steps and get faster ordering with the 'Quick Order' and 'Quick Checkout' features. For future purchases, you can even reorder in one simple step from your order history.
1. Click on the 'Sign In / Register' link in the top navigation.
2. Click on the 'Register' button.
3. Input your location and follow the instructions to identify your dealer and your preferred store by clicking the 'Select Dealer' button associated with the dealer listing below the map.
4. Complete all required fields on the 'Dealer's Registration' form and click 'Submit.'


SEARCH PARTS WITH 'FIND BY EQUIPMENT'

It's easier than ever to search parts using the 'Find by Equipment' function, which allows you to enter a serial number and part keywords to get a listing of matches based on factory settings for your criteria.

ACCESS PARTS MANUALS

Another way to find parts is by clicking 'Parts Manuals' in the main navigation. From there you can drill down through major component systems to find groupings of parts specific to your equipment. Like a parts manual, you can view engineering drawings of many parts to ensure you are selecting the right part for your equipment.
1. Enter a specific serial number and keyword to narrow the results.
2. Click the search button to retrieve all the information stored about this serial number from the SIS parts books, including specific part numbers, engineering drawings, descriptions, dealer price and recommended quantities.
3. Adjust the quantity if necessary and select 'Add to Cart' to place the item in your shopping cart.


FIND PARTS BY CATEGORY

You can click the 'Shop by Category' link in the top navigation or select one of the many categories from the left navigation. Further narrow your search by selecting any available sub-categories. If you already know your part number, enter it or key search terms such as 'batteries' or 'filters' into the search feature in the top navigation.
1. Enter your part number into the Search field.
2. You will be taken to the 'Parts Detail' page where you will be able to see a picture of the part, the description, specifications and the part's price and availability with your local dealer.
3. Update the quantity you wish to purchase and check availability. Select 'Add to Cart' to place the item in your shopping cart.


USING SIS TO FIND PARTS

If you have access to the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS), including digital parts books, 3D technical drawings and other materials, you can utilize it by following the steps below:
1. To access SIS, click 'SIS' in the top navigation or click the 'Visit SIS' link on the 'Parts Manuals' page.
2. Enter the serial number or 3-digit prefix of your equipment or select a serial number from the drop down menu.
3. Narrow your search with the 'Filter Search' function to view all the options for your machine.
4. Type in a key word, such as battery, to view the batteries on your machine or you can 'Select As Shipped.'
5. After creating your parts list, select the desired parts and quantities needed for the repair and click 'Add to Shopping Cart.'


QUICK ORDER & CHECKOUT

Need to order parts fast? Then login to shop with 'Quick Order.'
1. In the 'Dealer Association' window, select the dealer, account, and store you are ordering from.
2. Select or enter a serial number for your machine.
3. Click on the 'Quick Order' link in the top navigation.
4. You can manually enter the quantity and part numbers needed or upload a .CSV file from your computer in a predefined format.
5. Click 'Add to Cart' to see availability, price and choose your source of supply.
6. Select 'Next' and add the parts to your shopping cart.
7. Save the list of parts as a file or frequent order list, print the list of parts, change your store location and update price and availability, select a delivery date, add notes and serial numbers to each part. Then proceed to check out.

From checkout to payment methods and delivery options, getting the parts you need has never been faster or easier.
1. Once you are ready to buy, click the 'Checkout' button, which directs you to the 'Shipping and Billing' page.
2. Select your delivery method, choose your payment option, and/or enter a promotion code.
3. Choose the 'Ship to Me' option if you would like to have your order delivered. If you want to pick your order up from the dealer, simply select 'Store Pick Up.'
4. Select your payment method and input the requested information and/or promotion code.
5. Click 'Next' and review your order on the 'Order Summary' page.
6. Select 'Order' to submit your parts order and receive your confirmation number.
7. If you would like to have a parts quote instead of placing an order, you can ‘Create Quote’ instead of choosing ‘Place Order’. Once the quote is created it is available to view from your account where you can see the details, place an order, or delete the quote.


SHOPPING PREFERENCES

To make the login and checkout process faster, you can customize your preferences in 'My Account' under 'Settings.' Your customization options include:
