The Oil Pressure Relief Valve Body is designed to open when the oil pressure in the engine exceeds a predetermined level. This allows excess oil to be diverted back to the oil sump, preventing the oil pressure from becoming too high. The dowel is a metal pin that helps to secure the valve body in place.
