A double-flange grommet is a flexible loop or a ring made of rubber that serves as a fastening, support, reinforcement, or protection for an opening or to insulate or protect something passed through it. Grommets are generally flared or collared on each side to keep them in place and are used for reinforcing holes in thin materials like fabrics and sheet metal to protect wires and cables from abrasion and to cover sharp edges of the piercing.
