REQUIRED For Replacement labeled Engines, Long Blocks, and short blocks sold within the U.S. and U.S. Territories the engine core (i.e. old engine) that is removed MUST be returned to your selling Caterpillar dealer, so that they can return to Caterpillar OR destroy, as required by law. Proof of return or destruction will then be provided to the EPA and or California ARB if required. See PELJ1301 for additional details.
BENEFITS:
• Lower cost by reusing workable components from original engine
• Reduced downtime
• Superior quality & reliability
• Quick turnarounds for maintaining productivity
Standard 12-month Warranty
An Engine Cylinder Short Block forms the primary structural and rotating assembly of an engine, consisting of the cylinder block and internal rotating components that generate motion from combustion. It provides the enclosed cylinders where fuel combustion occurs and directs the movement of pistons in a controlled linear path. The short block transfers combustion force through connecting rods to the crankshaft, converting reciprocating motion into rotational output.
Attributes:
• Promotes stable combustion cycle progression within cylinders.
• Contains combustion forces within defined chamber boundaries.
• Maintains structural alignment under repeated firing loads.
Applications:
An Engine Cylinder Short Block is installed at the base of the engine assembly, where it forms the main rotating structure that generates and transfers mechanical power during combustion cycles.
