Description
An Exhaust Manifold is responsible for collecting and channeling exhaust gases from the engine cylinders into the exhaust system. The manifold is directly mounted to the engine cylinder head, making it an integral part of the engine. When the engine's exhaust stroke occurs, combustion by-products and unburned fuel are expelled from each cylinder as high-temperature, high-pressure exhaust gases. These gases are directed into the exhaust manifold through individual ports or runners. The exhaust manifold collects the exhaust gases from each cylinder and merges them into a single outlet, also known as the collector. The collective gases then flow through the outlet and are directed toward the downstream exhaust system, which includes the catalytic converter, muffler, and tailpipe.
