An Air Conditioner Evaporator Coil functions as a heat exchanger, absorbing heat from the indoor air as it passes over the coil's cold surface. As the refrigerant inside the coil evaporates due to the absorbed heat, it undergoes a phase change from liquid to vapor, reducing the temperature of the air circulating through the unit. The evaporator coil also serves as a dehumidifier, extracting excess moisture from the air. As warm, humid air contacts the cold surface of the coil, water vapor condenses on its surface and is collected and drained away.
